HSA & FSA Payment Policy

HSA / FSA Payment Eligibility Policy
At MyLabsDirect, we’re proud to support customers paying with Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) cards. To enable a smooth experience, please review the following guidelines and eligibility information.

Eligibility of Test Kits:

  • Only diagnostic laboratory testing services that qualify as “medical care” under IRS § 213(d) are eligible. This includes tests that diagnose, monitor, or treat a medical condition.
  • “Wellness”, “general health screening” or purely lifestyle-oriented tests may not be eligible under all plans.
  • We mark each kit clearly on its product page: “HSA/FSA eligible” if we believe it qualifies based on our medical provider network and services provided.
  • If your card is declined, your provider may require you to pay with another card and seek reimbursement from your HSA/FSA plan administrator.

Payment Process:

  • At checkout, select “HSA/FSA card” as your payment method (this is typically the same as entering your card and selecting “debit”).
  • Ensure your settlement receipt is stored and delivered — you’ll need to keep it for your records and for potential plan substantiation.
  • Your fencing: If your card is declined, you can still complete the purchase with a non-HSA/FSA card and submit the receipt to your plan for reimbursement.

Receipt/Substantiation Guidelines:

Your receipt will include:

  • Merchant name: My Labs Direct
  • Date of service/purchase
  • Description of test kit(s) purchased
  • Amount paid
  • Patient name
Keep this receipt for your records for at least 7 years (or per your plan administrator’s requirement).

If Your Card Is Declined:

  • Verify that your card is active, and funds are available.
  • Check with your HSA/FSA plan administrator — they may have specific eligible-vendor lists or rules.
  • Alternate route: Pay with a standard card now, then submit the receipt to your administrator for reimbursement (and if required, include a Letter of Medical Necessity—see below).

Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN):
If your plan administrator requests it, you can download our LMN template, have it completed by your healthcare provider, and submit it along with your receipt.

Important Note:
Participation or approval of HSA/FSA payment acceptance does not guarantee your particular plan will approve a given purchase. Please check your plan’s coverage criteria and documentation requirements.
